How is your business helping to solve the health, social, or economic challenges created by COVID19?
We're worrying not about the health issues of Covid-19 but instead about the breakdown of the food supply chain and with it, the coming hunger crisis which could in turn cause as much, if not more, deaths than the virus.
Does your business contribute most to recovery, response, or resilience?
Resilience - we're improving the broader infrastructure for responding to pandemic outbreaks.,Recovery - we're positioned to support in the recovery of those directly affected.,Response - we're responding directly to issues caused or exacerbated by the COVID-19 outbreak.
What is the stage of your product development?
I have a market ready product/service. I have sold to customers.
What strengths does your team bring? Include skills and personal experience with the problem.
We bring more than a great team, we bring 30 great teams to solve this pan-African problem. We do that in a coordinated effort, combining the innovation of 30 entrepreneurs within a structure that efficiently allocates capital across those 30 companies. All of these companies were previously selected to be part of a Fledge accelerator. That makes then one of the top 2%-5% of applicants globally. We then added two months of training to make them better and a small initial investment. Now with Africa Eats we are turning all that into a cooperate structure where the entrepreneurs are each other eyes and ears, all looking for opportunities to help alleviate poverty, all using (pre-pandemic) profitable companies to scale up solutions.
What countries do you operate in?
Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Nigeria, and Ghana
Is your company headquartered in a US "Opportunity Zone"?
