How is your business helping to solve the health, social, or economic challenges created by COVID19?
The economic impact of COVID19 is going to be disastrous for the developing world. The world needs urgent, significant and innovative interventions to mitigate these effects without enabling or supporting corruption. Bitprop helps to address these short term economic challenges by investing in the supply of assets that address the health and social challenges for the people who need it most. Long before COVID19, poor housing conditions have been associated with a wide range of health conditions, including respiratory infections and asthma. In order to reduce risk for this, or any other pandemic, living conditions must be improved. Access to affordable and adequate housing is perhaps the social problem of our generation. Bitprop addresses both by enabling large scale investment into the development of small scale rental housing units in the poorest areas. Bitprop supports investment into local, SMME community based builders to develop these units for the owner, stimulating job creation and supporting business development in the short term; significantly improving living conditions for tenants and creating wealth for owners in the long term. It is widely perceived that the upliftment of such areas can only be done by charitable or subsidized intervention. Bitprop is proving that the fundamental sustainable building block for all of this activity is the investor, for whom returns can be generated and managed. https://youtu.be/JDSC9BwktSo

The team includes highly skilled architects with a background in low-cost housing, who are able to assist in the systems and processes required to assist and develop local building contractors. With additional expertise added in low-income market understanding, communications, operationsand financing, Bitprop is developing systems and processes that enable the concept to adapt and grow effectively.
