How is your business helping to solve the health, social, or economic challenges created by COVID19?
Roughly 1 in 4 households in America are unbanked or underbanked. Although we have been working on the issue pre-COVID-19, the issues those who are unbanked have to deal with due to lack of access to fair financial services became evident as government prepared to send out stimulus checks. At CapWay, we have a specific focus to bringing mobile banking to the financially underserved population. Mobile banking has increased about 200% since COVID-19, but there is still has been a gap for many who are financially underserved, in particular, areas that have not had a high exposure to mobile banking. As the founder of CapWay, I come from a financially underserved community in Mississippi and understand personally and professionally how to reach this particular market. Contactless payments have increased during the pandemic and will continue to be a popular and preferred method for the foreseeable future. CapWay is a hybrid company with a focus on B2B2C and B2C. This means we are able to provide the solution for both the business and consumer pain point to solve the same core issue.
Does your business contribute most to recovery, response, or resilience?
Resilience - we're improving the broader infrastructure for responding to pandemic outbreaks.,Recovery - we're positioned to support in the recovery of those directly affected.,Response - we're responding directly to issues caused or exacerbated by the COVID-19 outbreak.

As the founder and CEO, I have the personal and professional experience to solve this problem. Professionally, CapWay is my second startup, with a previous successful tech startup on my record. Personally, I grew up in a banking desert in Mississippi. Many of my family and community members fall into the financially underserved demographic. I under the psychological impact and pending on predatory options due to lack of access, knowledge, and opportunity. I would argue that I know this space better than someone who is out to solve the same issue.CapWay's lead developer specializes in building systems. Outside of the APIs we use from our banking vendors, all of our technology and systems are built in-house. The creation of this company has been built and tailored towards the audience that we serve. We also have a member of our team who is the ex-COO of Bancorp, one of the most known issuing banks in the mobile banking space - home to mobile banks like Chime and Varo. Her 20-year skillset and knowledge ensures we are in line with all regulatory and compliance and risk, have direct and favorable relations with our bank vendors, and can operate and scale at a high level.
