How is your business helping to solve the health, social, or economic challenges created by COVID19?
CBio is a minority owned startup company based in Irvine, CA. CBio has been working on a point of care pathogen detection since October 2016. Our technology has demonstrated the ability to directly detect intact virus, bacteria, and other dangerous biomolecules from physiological samples (whole blood, plasma, nasal swabs, saliva).Current diagnostic tests for SARS-CoV-2 virus, reverse transcriptase poly chain reaction (RT-PCR) and serological tests suffer from the difficulties of contamination when access human material is present. The contaminants compromises the performance of these tests by degrading the signal/noise ratio. CBio has overcome the limitations of these techniques with our hardware platform, cellPhoresis®. cellPhoresis® is a live cell testing modality able to monitor viral load dynamics in cells in real time. Viral load dynamics provides better insights into the physiological state of an infected patient. Tracking this signature over time will give medical professionals the critical information they need to ensure appropriate treatment and that the treatment is working as expected.
