How is your business helping to solve the health, social, or economic challenges created by COVID19?
Health: COVID19 is an airborne pandemic. Our work focusses on the last mile of the sanitation supply chain, specifically faecal sludge management. Presently, sewage sludge is disposed off in landfills or in the ocean. By processing sludge effectively, we prevent GHG emissions and neutralise disease-causing pathogens. There is a very real risk of a future pandemic being water-borne.Social: Faecal sludge management is an icky subject. But managing sludge is crucial. That's where we come in. We provide technology and equipment to manage waste, thereby removing the stigma associated with itEconomic: As a young business predicated on solving a crucial problem, we're poised to create an entire new industry as it were. We will create jobs in waste management, engineering, fabrication, operations etc
Does your business contribute most to recovery, response, or resilience?
Resilience - we're improving the broader infrastructure for responding to pandemic outbreaks.,Recovery - we're positioned to support in the recovery of those directly affected.,Response - we're responding directly to issues caused or exacerbated by the COVID-19 outbreak.
What is the stage of your product development?
I have a market-ready product/service. I could sell it to customers
What strengths does your team bring? Include skills and personal experience with the problem.
Harmaan (Founder) is a mechanical engineer with a background in the automotive industry. His interest in waste-to-energy is a direct outcome of his work in renewable fuel systems for automotive applications. A natural problem solver with a strong risk appetite, Harmaan believes that a circular economy is a must if the human race wants a chance to survive. Waste management, energy efficiency, resource use are all inter-connected but we're missing the obvious links. Ujval (CFO) is a CA+CFA+MBA in finance with a background in advisory, risk management and corporate finance. He is the typical bean-counter: well-dressed, articulate and with a strong eye for detail. He shares Harmaan's vision for a cleaner, greener world and helps to shape the financial models to demonstrate how this can be done. Nitant (principal advisor) is an academic, scholar and entrepreneur with several patents to his name in renewable energy systems. He is both: mentor and business partner. Nitant has seen many moons and the teams counts on his experience for input, both as a technologist and as an entrepreneur.
