How is your business helping to solve the health, social, or economic challenges created by COVID19?
Isolation can be particularly fatal to people in the addiction community as it is the one thing that is encouraged never to do whether in active addiction or in active recovery. We provide a virtual platform to support the addiction community during these challenging times. To date, we have 60,153 members 473,000 messages in our hotlines and groups and have seen a 1970% increase and 106.7% growth in weekly active users since COVID crisis.Connection and engagement is essential and people need to understand that they are not alone. We also have a comprehensive guide to 14,000+ treatment centers and 3500+ Telehelp Centers throughout America.Since COVID, we have been covered by CBS, NBC, GMA, NPR, News 12 New Jersey, News 12 Brooklyn, News 12 Bronx, News 12 Long Island, Healthline as well as featured in companies doing good segment in iHeartRadio Z100.We are launching a campaign to raise money to pay for beds for people who need treatment and cannot pay for it. This is an initiative we are in the final phases of discussions to partner with iHeart Radio through an Instagram Live initiative scheduled for 3rd week May.Furthermore and very sadly, people who did not have a problem before COVID are drinking now more than ever as alcohol sales have skyrocketed. One of our main groups within Loosid, our Sober Curious group has been the most active as it is a forum of people who are looking for advice on how to curtail or stop drinking during the this very challenging time.

I (MJ Gottlieb) am the co-Founder and CEO of Loosid and have been in recovery since March 2012. I have owned and operated 4 brands, a sales agency and a strategic consulting firm since November 1991 and am author of How To Ruin A Business Without Really Trying (foreword by Shark Tank's Daymond John). Marketdata estimates that the drug, alcohol and other addictions treatment industry will be worth $42 billion this year. I am intimately familiar with the challenges within the addiction and recovery space and our company has spent significant money building a comprehensive platform to a community that represents over 400 million people worldwide to not only connect and engage, but to kill the stigma that sobriety is something to be ashamed of, but rather one to be celebrated. My business partner is intimately connected as her family has been ravaged by addiction. She built a healthcare company from the ground up and exited to private equity a few years ago.Our CTO has spent the past two decades architecting web, mobile, and cloud technologies. To date, over 500 million people have used the technologies he’s helped design. He’s been the former CTO of several technology startups and has worked on large scale deployments. Notable projects include, SiriusXM, Tapjoy, GE, Scotiabank and Coldwell Banker. Our Head of Business and Brand Development, Sarah Sarpolis, and Gary O'Neil McDonald, COO have a combined 53 years of experience leading large teams and global brands.
